Is there any reason why exterior paint cannot be used for inside the house painting?
exterior paint is left over from previous job.
exterior already paid for
There is no reason at all,,it might cost a little more but it is more durable, and easier to clean,,, example,,,kitchen,,kids room,,bath room,,no reason to pain over a spill,,splatter when you can wash the wall,,egg shell,,or,,Satin would be a good choice ,,,easier to clean,,,PS the smell might be a little stronger because of the drying agent used in it just open the windows and put a fan in the room this will help the paint cure faster,,,no big deal!!!

no, but usually exterior is more expensive due to the fact that it normally needs to stand up to weather and sunlight. also the dried finish may be to "industrial" for some rooms. you might want to paint a small area and see how that turns out.

YES,
A good exterior paint or top line has a slow release mold and mildewcide additive in it. On an exterior surface this would not matter because it gets enough air to dissipate, BUT interior it dissipates into your house. If you have serious allergies or asthma this could cause respatory stress over time. This mildewcide is usually found in any top line paint that is strictly labeled exterior. Anything that says interior/exterior does not have the mildewcide in it and therefore will be safe to use indoor…
HOWEVER, exterior coatings are designed for tremendous expansion and contractions….think about it… the outside of your house goes from freezing temperatures to ungodly heat. The inside of your house is usually climate controlled and does not vary as much. What does this mean, well it means that exterior paint is much softer, it needs to be to stretch, and will not hold up to the abuse that an interior paint would. Meaning it will not be as washable or scrubbable.
Check the can… Worse comes to worse call the manufacturer, they will let you know what the product contains and if it’s safe.
