Should I use interior or exterior paint for a bathroom? Any tips on painting a bathroom?

I already sanded the wall, next I plan to put a coat of primer, then paint, then primer and that’s it.

What do you think?

The very best paint for bathrooms is Zinsser mold and mildew paint. It prevents mold and mildew from growing from the bathroom steam.
It has a primer in it and it is tintable. You can save yourself the step of priming. I comes in satin and semi gloss.
Semi gloss is the best for bathrooms.
It comes in interior / exterior.

You can use an interior paint, but get a high gloss washable latex paint for it.

For the primer, get something light colored from wrong color paint at the paint store. They usually sell it for a cheap price and it works great for the primer coat, and costs lots less. You can get it for like 5 dollars a gallon.

You should use enamel. It is made for bathrooms and kitchens, areas that get moisture. Also, maybe it was a miss-type but don’t put primer on after your paint. It you ask your local paint store or hardware store they will help you pick the right paint for your needs.

I would use a good interior latex,( it cleans up with soap and water and is washable after it drys )

You don’t need to apply a coat of primer after you paint. Your paint store can show you what they have. Just tell them what you’re going to use it for.

Another tip; have the paint store tint your primer the same color as your paint. Then if you miss a spot when you paint, easy to do when it’s wet, you won’t have white primer visable after it drys.

I have heard that using a good oil based paint is best. But it did not come from an expert in the field. Talk to a pro paint supplier they should know best. Also check http://www.DIY.com

I prefer oil based paint. I don’t care what brand or the cost of any "mildew proof" latex paint, it won’t work. Anything latex will not stop mildew and mold given enough moisture.

I have tried them all in my hotel rooms and none have worked. Latex is mold food.
    Not that I am bitter… >:(

If you use latex install a good bathroom fan vented to the outside and use it religiously.

Bath paint is actually available. Wherever you go, just tell them you are painting a bathroom and they should be able to point you to a paint with a good reputation.

Here is a product to help you decide on a paint color; it makes choosing paint colors fun, easy and there will be no eyesore to look at while you are deciding on a color; it also allows you to test the color on different walls/ceiling to test in different lighting:
