What are the rules for painting the exterior of your house?

I was wanting to paint my front door, but what are the rules? Do I need to paint my garage door and shutters to match or with complementary colors? Right now everything is white! Any suggestions!

You can do complementary or you can even go neutral or even match shutters. But I don’t think you need to do anything with garage door unless you really want more character. And sometimes that’s good and sometimes it can be a bit too much.

Paint them however you like. I have a fiberglass entry door that looks like oak. I have a white garage door, and green shutters on my windows, which are clad in green aluminum. Hope this helps.
