The Best Professional Painting

I am looking to pain the exterior of our home. We currently have a cedar. Obviously the painting is the easy part, but I’m looking to hire somebody who knows how to do a good job with the prep work. I want to find out what questions to ask. If somebody could tell me what steps need to be taken before the painting begins I would really appreciate it.

A few questions for you ……

Will you be using paint or stain …if stain, what type >, semi transparent or solid color.
Has this been painted/stained before or just sealed
What I the condition of the wood …holes, dry rot, nail pops..etc
What do you plan of using to paint ..sprayer or roller ….both?

He is in Dixon, but works all over the Chicagoland area.
