Glued down wood flooring… I have a glued down wood floor that I am removing. Will a Vinyl tile stripper work?
Will a vinyl tile stripper work to remove them?
I have 1100 sq ft. With a tile stripper and one person, do you think I can do this in one day?
Can I just lay ceramic tile over the wood?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure. I have heard of people using a heat gun to get up flooring that is glued down. And i think you have to put down something called louon(lou-on) first. Not sure of the spelling.

If its the big heavy vibreating stripper that you rent , it will help you but you won t be able to do 1100 s/f in one day.. A helper to clen up the debris is a plus but at best a 2 day job. It all boils down to how well it s bonded and how old the glue is. Some of the older glue hardened and crystalizes , these are a bit easier.
And to answer the 2nd question, absolutly not , no , don t do it. Tile needs a minimum thickness of an 1 1/4 total substart for a proper sub flooring.. There are a varity of substarts to choose from and all these must be put down according to industry standards. These are out lined by the ATC and TCA hand book.( Tile guide lines) Any flooring (specialy tile) you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there … GL

I’d use a ‘floor spud" and scrape it off. It’s a lot of work, then strip the glue off with the stripper.
