home innovation – flooring – you guys prefer wood floor, carpet, or tile?
Carpet, especially when walking around barefoot. Bare floors just don’t feel as nice.

I’m a sucker for wood. Wood seems warm and inviting. Nice little area rug to help make it feel more like home.

Hmm, I like either wood or some kind of nice stone tile, not regular like bathroom tile…

After experience, I think carpet is the best for bedrooms and the basement. It’s much cosier than hardwood floor, which is not personable at all.
In all the other parts of the house, hardwood is best. Hardwood keeps the house clean (it does not facilitate dirt and grime as carpet does), has a high-quality appearance, and is easy to manage.

Hardwood. If I had to do it again, I’d get bamboo now rather than oak.

lately I use laminated floors same appearance that wood but more resistant (even low maintenance ) and then a good rug in contrast with the floor…

Veneer hard wood or pergo hardwood. Carpet is horribly polluting. Go green! Travertine is good as well.

Hi, being a contractor , and from my experience, you will be ripping that carpet out some day soon. If you drop milk ,soda, etc it will stink like sh-t. Trust me it might be fast to lay down a carpet and enjoy the feeling of it the first six months, but when your boyfriend family come over on a snowy are rainy day and the kids ran all over the wet mud from the lawn you will raise hell. I consider going with prefinish hardwood floors, you wind up paying a little more money but, it is an investment in the future if you own the home. Also if it gets dirty, you can always use the swiffer mop . And then if it gets all scratch up in the future from the furniture or the kids playing you can always have them sanded down again and refinished and have them looking just like the way you first bought them.Second, I my-self like good quality. So if you were doing this to surprise me while i was out , i love some type of stone floor. If it’s a large area to cover i suggest you use something like 16×16 and don’t space out the tiles to far away from each other. And most importantly make sure if your laying tiles down it should go on some type of masonry board if the floor is wood then at least 2-3 inches of concrete then, Finlay some good thinset mortar called "flex-bond". To conclude this blabbing, Most men prefer the lux. look. Rugs are for kittens.

Wood flooring. It is much more versatile. Throw rugs keep the feet warm, and can be taken to the cleaners or if small thrown in washer. No more hiring someone to come clean it and having to be there waiting for them, or (god forbid) doing it yourself. If it has been properly finished cleanup is easy and there is no grout to get stained. Plus it’s just plain beautiful.

It depends on the room. Tile for kitchens, bathrooms and laundry/mud rooms. Carpet for bedrooms and living room. Wood for the dining area and rec rooms.
