How do I put fall in a tile floor on top of a wood floor?

I am remodelling bathroom. The house has a wood subfloor, and I want to put in a tile shower and floor like a hospital. So, I need fall to the drain. I only want to tile about half of the bathroom floor. What do I do?

This isn t the average DIY job. The membrane on the bottom must also be flashed up the walls . The drain itself is a special drain and must be set properly.By most codes a plumber is required to do so but all mine passed because the inspectors said I had done a better job than most plumbers. The outer edge ( inner 1/2 of the room ) must be blocked off by a curb and this must be treated properly when done also.

This is a very difficult installation. You’ll need to build a mortar bed with the correct slope and then install the tile on top of it. I would not suggest anyone attempt this installation that is not very experienced. Water proofing material will also need to be placed between the mortar bed and wood subfloor to keep water from getting to the wood. There are rules about this installation and a permit is required. I would hire a professional to be sure that the slope is correct and there are no leaks and it passes code. The rest of the bathroom will also need additional subfloor to build it up higher than the drain, or a lip will need to be installed between the tiled and non-tiled floor to keep the water in.
