wood floors or tile?
My husband and i just bought a house and we are trying to figure out if we want to put in wood floors or tile. Which is better in a house and will last for the price? Which is easier to keep clean? We also want to put granite counter tops in, will that look good with either wood flooring or tile? We know how to put both in and my uncle does contrsuction and my cousin knows how to go tiling that looks very impressive. Opinion please? We are stuck and dont know which to go with. Thanks
I would go with wood. I have both and sand gets in the grout line of the tiles and are harder to sweep up since it goes both ways. Also the grout will eventually get dirty and you have to scrub with special cleaner and brush to clean it. Just be sure the wood is well sealed and I think you will be happy. Like the other guy said, tile is cold!

wood all the way
wood floors are much more beautiful in my opinion. I do not care for tile as it is very slippery when wet, it is easy to get a cracked tile, and it is harder to clean.

Depends on your location and your lifestyle.
Tile is definite easier to clean and maintain, but will freeze your feet in the cold months.
Wood floor, durability varies depending the product selections. DO NOT use engineered hard wood flooring on kitchen floor as it can be dented easily and warp. A plastic bowl drop on the floor would possibly give you an unforgettable mark. Solid hardwood is ok.

we are putting tile in our whole house. i think its harder to keep wood up. i know that tile gets really cold but i dont want to worry about scratches or water spilling. i say tile is the way to go

Go with wood! It’s so beautiful! Especially a dark cherry wood.
They are right, tile is easily cracked, with wood you can always re finish. Just make sure that you call an exterminator at the first sign of ANY termite trouble!!!

Wood. Most beautiful, warm on the tootsies, increases value of home, if you drop anything on tile it breaks. If you do go with tile have your cousin lay it on the bias. (Not checkerboard but sideway slanted). Nicer look that way.
