interior painting for our first home?
We are going to buy our first home, and we want to paint the interior before we move in, also we are planning to buy furniture too. So should i match the color with my furniture? should i buy furniture first, then paint or the other way or doesn’t matter? Its my first timer and im all excited but i dont know where to start from… Plzzzzz help.. Also suggestions are invited for picking colors for the different areas.
Furniture 1st -not an option .But do suggest you flip through a few decorating magazines or web sites first and pick the rooms you like best ,Then compare all your favorites most likely you’ll have a theme- some similarity in them all .Start there- then shop -then paint. If you need more assistance from there we’ll be here for you .congratulations on your new home

Number one rule of painting – get a good Primer. Buy your furniture and then paint the rooms to go with.

I think you should take a look at furniture and discuss style first. Then go with what you love and work around that.
Say you really love a sofa that you see and want to use it in your living room…base the colors of paint off that sofa.
But if you’re looking at your bedroom and you really think that a certain color would be perfect for that room, base your furniture off the colors you like.
Just look around at what inspires you and base color/furniture options off what you love.
As far as advice on color, that’s a hard one because everyone has different taste.
Me, personally, I only like brown carpet. I really am not a fan of colored carpets. I think the floor should be a base and the color should come from accents and paint. The only time I would contradict that flooring statement is with wood floors, find a wood type that you love and then use rugs as accent pieces. Rugs are the only flooring (again IMO) that should be accent pieces.
I really love chocolate brown, I think it’s very rich looking, it would be great in a living room, study, or bedroom. I would use it on an accent wall.
If you really love a bold or bright or vibrant color but you’re worried about it being "too much" use it on one wall or use it in accessories in the room.
I’m a firm believer that kitchens should be more natural colors, colors that don’t come naturally in food aren’t very appetising. I love green in the kitchen and you could pair green with anything. I love pale green and eggplant, or apple green and natural wood and white. Again, go with things that inspire you. If you have or always wanted a bright red KitchenAid mixer, use red in the kitchen, apple red and butter yellow are beautiful together.
Hope this helps and feel free to contact me with other questions, I’m happy to help and love decorating.

A ‘warm’ white is very good in family rooms and entryways. Kitchens like a bit of flair-not anything so dark that the available light creates many shadows. The master bedroom allways likes cooling shades of green. Kids rooms are best done with light shades. Bathrooms can be bold,if the lighting is bright and alive.
