Interior painting, what is the best way to cut a 2 story stairwell at the ceiling?i?

I cannot tape the ceiling, need help!

There is a device sold at most "contractor" paint stores that will attatch to the end of an extendable paint pole. They are under $30 and will save you from a potential fall from a ladder from masking or just using the ladder on the stairs. Some stores you might check are- Kelly-Moore, Sherwin Williams, Jones-Blair, Home Depot.
