you can charge by the job or by the hour. Call around to painters and get price quotes on similar sized jobs. I did painting for a friend and she gave me 500$ for three bedrooms about 10 X 10 each. Keep in mind you will probably need to purchase the supplies you are going to need, paint, tape rollers and brushes pans etc.
References :
A bridal shoppe owner paid a decorator $75.00 an hour to apply a faux finish. Since rooms in certain homes can be enormous, I'd charge by the hour. If you are shy, charge $50.00 an hour. But think about this, my cousin paid some guy to clean her house rain gutters for $65.00 an hour. My plumber came and snaked out my sewer. It took him 15 minutes and he walked away with $60.00. I need to have a cement walk laid up to, alongside and along the back of my house. I'd say that's roughly 70 feet in length and by no means more than a yard wide and it's going to be 3 days work to jack hammer the existing cement, haul it away and pour new stuff. Price for this will be 22 hundred. My dentist charges about $40.00-$60.00 to fill a tooth. I know some artists who will paint your portrait for $100.00 an hour and times that by 40 hours. Let's not even consider what our car mechanics charge. Oh here's a good one, if you didn't have health insurance, how much would you pay just to walk into your doctor's office? In short, how much is your time worth?
