What do you think of painting interior doors a color other than white/off white?
We are remodeling and I would like to do something different with my interior doors. The tile we chose is dark in color(brown-ish/black marble.) The home has a "Italian" feel to it. Would Black doors be too bold? What is your opinion?
i actually wish more people would think like you -wait a minute then i’d be out of business.its a great choice but may be a bit too striking in black consider going with the darkest brown you can find so that you compliment your tile not compete with it

It is always nice to use color on doors. The only thing I would worry about with using a black or even very dark brown would be the size of space – will it be too overwhelming? I am an architect and when we help our clients choose colors we sometimes use a darker color for the door frame trim and trim in the room and then a lighter color for the door. Could you pick up a lighter brown vein in the marble for the door color and then use the darker color for the trim inside the room to accent? Of course it is only paint – you could try it out and paint over it if you really hate it!

1st are they wood doors?? 2nd do they have paint on them now?? if not please, please please don’t paint wooden doors. I’ve been in the construction industry for more than 15 yrs. and it drives me crazy when homeowners paint wood, 95% of the time it’s a bad idea.
here r sum reasons why you should choose a good "STAIN" color over paint:
Painting wood is not maintenance free: usually u’ll always hafta keep painting and scraping and sanding wood once every 1 or 2 yrs. to keep it looking good. Stain is a done deal, maintenance free.
Return on ur investment: After you paint wood (even if it’s pine) u take away the natural beauty of it, and u can actually lower the value of ur home, stained wood sells better than painted.
Color problem??: No u shouldn’t think that the only stain color ur stuck with is various shades of brown, these days u can get almost any color u want, even purple, blue, red, etc.
those are just sum reasons not to paint wood, but if u still want the look and feel of paint, try composite doors and trim, they "PAINT" better than wood, hold "PAINT" color longer, and u don’t waste ur money on beautiful oak, cherry, or hell even pine and then paint the natural grains away……it’s already preprimed
